The recent AEIMS Board Meeting was held on Friday, May 31, 2024, at Ecole Estienne in Paris, both in-person and online. Hosted by Annaïck Perron, Vice-President of France, the meeting was attended in person by several key members, including Raymond Evans, Pascale Pollier-Green, Rogier Trompert, Vega Asensio Herrero, and Ann Van de Velde; and online by Niklaus Heeb and Luca Guerreiro.
In addition to discussing financial matters and planning to meet the needs of our associates, the board highlighted the numerous and highly compelling upcoming events of the association.
Notably, the General Assembly Meeting 2024, in collaboration with "Anatomy and Beyond II" organized by the Medical Artists’ Association of Great Britain (MAA), is scheduled for October 3-4, 2024, at the Gordon Museum of Pathology in London, UK. This joint AEIMS/MAA meeting, organized by Pascale Pollier, will feature a preliminary program that is now available for viewing and registration at www.anatomy-and-beyond.com. The board discussed the high caliber of the speakers and the anticipated highly engaging and insightful talks that will be presented during the event.
The AEIMS Board Meeting also provided an opportunity to reflect on the successful execution of previous meetings and events. Notable among these were the inauguration of the medical artwork "HANDS" by Pascale Pollier, showcased at the AEIMS Conference 2023 and exhibited at the University of Antwerp. Additionally, the Dissection Drawing Day at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts Antwerp, featuring live streaming, and the Vesalius Continuum Meeting in Zakynthos were significant successes. The meeting also acknowledged the fruitful Open Day at Ecole Estienne in Paris, which included a meeting with the headmaster, Mariette Dupont, further contributing to the association's rich history of impactful events.
The upcoming Student Events 2024 have been announced as follows:
Paris: June 20-21, 2024 - Graduation ceremony with exhibition.
Maastricht: June 28, 2024 - Graduation ceremony with exhibition.
There was also a discussion about the General Assembly Meeting 2025, which is set to take place in Paris at Ecole Estienne, with a proposed date of October 9-10, 2025.
In addition to the productive discussions, the board members had the opportunity to explore Paris and enjoy a fantastic dinner by the Seine. The meeting provided a platform for both professional deliberations and enjoyable social interactions, enhancing the overall experience for the attendees.
Overall, the AEIMS Board Meeting in Paris was a successful and enriching experience, combining productive deliberations with enjoyable social activities, fostering a strong sense of camaraderie among the board members.
The next Board Meeting will be at the AEIMS Day of Anatomy and Beyond in London. We are looking forward to that.
